Oyez, Oyez, Oyez! Introducing Melksham’s New Town Crier!
Melksham Town Council are excited to welcome Ian Pugh as our new Town Crier!
Ian was officially welcomed into his new role this week by Town Mayor, Councillor Tom Price, former Town Crier Jax Brady, and aspiring young Crier Ada-Rose.
Ian is a professional Toastmaster (also known as a Master of Ceremonies) and is therefore very familiar with compering, hosting and making speeches at high-level functions such as weddings and civic events.
With over 15 years of experience in this field, Ian is also a Fellow of the Guild of International Professional Toastmasters and has an excellent reputation for being “low key but effective,” with “a very good sense of humour, and prides himself on bringing a “Touch of Class” to all his events.
As the official messenger of Melksham, Ian will be the voice of the Town, delivering important announcements, embodying the spirit of tradition, and representing both the Town Council and the community at key events, ceremonies and celebrations.
Ian’s first official engagement as Melksham Town Crier will be Remembrance Sunday on 10th November. He will also be available to attend school assemblies and fetes, open fairs and festivals and compete in local and regional Town Crier competitions.
