The Melksham Christmas Market & Lights Switch On 2024 Needs YOU!

Melksham’s most popular event, the Christmas Market & Lights Switch On, is now full speed ahead for this year’s date of Saturday 7^th December, with local stallholders and entertainers already registering their interest.

However, due to the ever-growing popularity of this event, the team behind organising the festivities are also looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join the team to support the smooth-running of the day.

The Melksham Christmas Lights Team will be working their magic once again on the Town Centre light displays, including the incredible Town Hall illuminations and Christmas Tree. They will also oversee the decorating and running of Santa’s Grotto- along with Santa, Mrs Clause and the Elves of course!

The Melksham Town Council Amenities Team, Officers and Councillors will also be working hard in the run up to the event and throughout the day, and they look forward to welcoming some new faces to the Christmas Market & Lights Switch On family!

We will then be in touch nearer the time with more information on how the day will run and to confirm your availability and expertise.

We are also still looking for local groups and clubs to perform on the day and a registration form for entertainers can also be found online here.

Please note:

• The Melksham Christmas Market & Lights Switch On is a long day and often cold, so please dress appropriately and make sure you are physically able to undertake the tasks you sign up for. 
• We will of course make sure we do not allocate anyone a job they are not comfortable with and will arrange the schedule so that no one is working for too long.
• Our busiest times of the day are 8am-12noon for set up and traffic marshalling, and from 6pm-8pm to assist in stall set down and tidying up.
