This is a fantastic opportunity to join Melksham Town Council.
The Administration Assistant role is integral to the smooth running of Melksham Town Hall. Reporting directly to the Deputy Town Clerk, the role represents the customer facing side of the council.
Based permanently in the Town Hall, the role is the first point of contact for Residents, Business’s, Visitors, Councillors and Officers. Previous experience is beneficial but not essential.
The role requires the use of Microsoft 365 Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote). Strong Customer Service, Communication, Organisation, Drive and attention to detail are essential. The ability to work alone using your own initiative or as part of a collaborative team will be essential. Professional business attire and telephone manor are essential.
We need an efficient and pro-active individual, who is able to balance competing priorities, who is looking for a fixed term and part time role, or work experience to build your CV. This can be an initial role to enable further career development in local government or progression into political role in the future.
There will be opportunities to gain skills, knowledge and experience in a number of roles for the right candidate.
Duties
- Customer Service: Melksham Town Council Brand Ambassador
- Planning and Organising: Maintaining hard copy office files, and online N Drive folders and files. with some archiving of old paperwork being needed.
- Process and Routine: Ensuring that all Council policies are robustly maintained. Reviewing and amending Documentation, Templates, Files and Folders to ensure compliance.
- Effective and Efficient: Responding to In person, Telephone, email requests within customer service levels.
- Productivity Focus: Data Entry is completed, accurately and on time.
Experience Required
- Solid Office and Administration experience
- Excellent organisation skills
- Efficient and proactive
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office
This is a part time role working over the days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. We expect the role to last for 3 months, therefore this will be a Fixed Term Contract position for this period.
The Full Time Equivalent salary will be £23,656 per year (pro-rata salary is £14,385).
