Melksham Awarded Gold in South West in Bloom Competition!
Following Melksham’s visit from the South West in Bloom judge Camilla Bassett Smith in July, the Melksham Bloomers attended the Royal Horticultural Society’s Awards Presentation Day in Bath today to hear the results and were delighted to hear they had been awarded Gold!
Melksham were entered into the Sargent Cup category of South West in Bloom, which is for towns with a population of 9,000-13,999.
Several of Melksham's Community Groups also entered the 'It's Your Neighbourhood' (IYN) category and the following results were announced:
THRIVING: The Friends Garden, Canon Square & Canons Court, Melksham Mobile Home Park, and Melksham Flag Making Group.
Rania Moghal, aged 7, from Forest & Sandridge Primary School also won 3rd place in the Children’s Picture Competition on the theme of ‘friendship’.
In addition, Mehmet Sen, aged 5, from The Manor Primary School, received a special mention and 'well done' from the judges for their painting.
A massive congratulations from Melksham Town Council to all involved, especially the Melksham Bloomers, Rich Baulch-Collett and the rest of our incredible Amenities Team for their hard work and dedication year-round.
This year marked the 60th anniversary of Britain in Bloom and the 11th year that the Melksham Bloomers have led the efforts in entering Melksham into the South West regional competition.
