Melksham Town Council Secures Grant for Exciting New Play Park at Awdrey Avenue
Melksham Town Council is delighted to announce the successful award of funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for the development of a vibrant new play park at Awdrey Avenue.
This exciting project stems from an original idea by Forest residents, who collaborated with Wiltshire Council’s Community Conversations initiative. Recognising the need for improved recreational facilities, a panel of local residents approved the grant to bring this vision to life.
The new play park will feature innovative designs, including natural play elements and imaginative spaces, offering children up to 12 years old opportunities for adventurous and risk-based play. These thoughtfully designed features aim to support children's development while providing a fun and inclusive environment for families.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January2025, with the park set to open by April 2025.
"We are excited to provide a space where children and families can come together, explore, and enjoy the outdoors in although fully designed environment," said Hayley Bell, Deputy Town Clerk of Melksham Town Council.
This initiative reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community spaces and promoting well-being for all residents.
Updates and progress on the project will be shared on our website
