Community Spirit Blossoms as Pre-Season Preparations Begin at King George V Playing Field

Melksham Town Council has announced the start of pre-season preparations at the beloved King George V Playing Field, with a special focus on creating a new sensory garden. This exciting project is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to enhance the park’s facilities while ensuring the protection of local wildlife.

The first phase of the project involves carefully managing self-seeded saplings and overgrown bushes to prepare the area for the sensory garden’s development. The council is emphasising its dedication to preserving the natural environment, particularly during nesting season, as they create a welcoming and accessible space for residents and visitors alike.

A Call for Volunteers

Melksham Town Council is also calling on the community to join in these efforts by volunteering at King George V Playing Field. Whether it’s helping with maintenance and conservation projects, supporting events, or contributing to the garden’s creation, volunteers have the chance to make a lasting impact on this cherished community space.

Looking Ahead

The sensory garden is expected to be a centrepiece of the park, offering a tranquil space for relaxation and connection with nature. It’s part of a broader vision to make King George V Playing Field a vibrant hub for the community, with facilities that cater to people of all ages and abilities.

With the support of local volunteers, Melksham Town Council hopes to complete the initial preparations in time for the upcoming season, ensuring the park continues to be a source of pride and joy for the town.
