Melksham Town Council will be holding its first ever outdoor screening event on Saturday 14th September 2024 in King George V Playing Fields.
This FREE event will feature a live, outdoor screening of the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms, starting at 7pm and running until approximately 10.30pm, with one interval.
Following a unanimous resolution at the Community Development Committee meeting on Tuesday 7th May and further ratification by Full Council on Tuesday 28th May, preparations for this exciting new family-friendly event are well underway.
The event is open to all and free to attend, however donations towards the Mayor’s Charity, Julia’s House, will be very welcome.
Evie’s Kitchen will remain open throughout the evening serving a selection of hot and cold refreshments, but the public are also encouraged to bring their own picnics to enjoy whilst watching the concert. There will also be an on-site bar until 10pm.
The BBC website describes this event as “an end-of-season party like no other.”
“Joining the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Chorus and BBC Singers, are Grammy Award-winning American soprano Angel Blue and one of Britain’s best-loved pianists, Sir Stephen Hough. Sakari Oramo returns to the podium for the world’s biggest classical music party.”
